PV Sindhu Flies Indigenous Combat Aircraft at Bangalore Air Show
In Celebration of Women’s day at the Expo on Saturday, women’s achievements in the aerospace sector were showcased. As a part of celebrations, India’s ACE badminton player PV Sindhu flew HAL’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas at the ongoing Aero India air show here. Sindhu, who is also among the youngest to co-pilot the HAL – manufactured fighter jet, waved as she climbed into the two-seater trainer variant of the aircraft.
Speaking to the media, PV Sindhu said, “I’m honoured to have taken this flight. The captain showed me all the maneuvers. He did all the loops and rolls and flew for about 5 minutes. Special Thanks for DRDO for making this happen. Women’s Day Celebrations at the expo gave me this opportunity and will definitely remember this forever.”
Ever since her Olympic silver, Sindhu has been an icon in India and repeatedly inspired various budding and current badminton players with her constituency. Sindhu is currently preparing for the All England Badminton Championships, which will take place in Birmingham from March 6th to 10th.
