Delhi: Queen Elizabeth's death was mourned in India too. A day of mourning is observed on Sunday (September 11). The national flag will be flown at half-mast on that day. The Ministry of Home Affairs also stated that there will be no official programs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the Queen's demise the other day. The Prime Minister wrote on Twitter that the Queen's warmth and kindness are unforgettable. The Prime Minister also said that his meetings with Queen Elizabeth during her visits to the UK in 2015 and 2018 were memorable.
"Queen Elizabeth's warmth and kindness will never be forgotten. During a meeting, I was shown the handkerchief that Mahatma Gandhi had gifted them for their wedding. I will always cherish that moment," the Prime Minister tweeted. Buckingham Palace confirmed the news of Queen Elizabeth's death on Thursday night. She died at the age of 96.
The Queen died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The Queen passed away in the 70th year of her coronation. The queen has been under the care of doctors since October last year due to health issues. By Wednesday, doctors had expressed concern over the Queen's health. Crown Prince Charles, his wife Camilla, and the Queen's daughter Princess Anne were with the Queen at Balmoral Castle during the final.
US President Joe Biden said in his condolence message that Queen Elizabeth was a person who defined an era. The thoughts and prayers of the US are with the people of Britain. He also suggested lowering the flag as a mark of respect. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Queen Elizabeth was a person who did justice to her position. In his condolence message, French President Emmanuel Macron remembered Queen Elizabeth as the owner of a kind heart.
