Most famous Tamil actor superstar Rajinikanth said Rain Water Harvesting(RWH) should be taken up on a war-footing to address the severe water scarcity in the state. The veteran actor said to the press in Chennai on his coming from Mumbai, for shooting his film 'Darbar'.
 
“As of now, immediate measures need to be taken on saving rainwater. It should be on a war-footing mode. Then all water bodies, including lakes and ponds need to desilt ahead of the monsoon season”, he said to asked on the water shortage prevailing in Tamil Nadu.
 
The city was facing the acute water crisis all four major reservoirs providing water going bone dry, forcing residents to look for alternatives to tide kept the crisis. Recently Hollywood start Leonardo DiCaprio had said that on the severe water problem in Tamil Nadu. And also one of the famous actors in Hollywood had said: “Only rain can save the Chennai form this situation.”
 
Rajinikanth requested whether heat not being able to send his vote in the recently conducted South Indian Artists Association election. “Yes (I am upset). Because I did not receive the postal votes on time”, he said.
 
The South Indian Association conducted on June 23 as per the orders of the Madras High Court. Around 1,604 actors and actresses, including actors Kamal Hassan and Vijay, cast their votes. But Rajinikanth had missed out as he was in Mumbai for shooting for his film. And he said regret at not existing able to vote in a tweet, talking that he had to get the postal votes for the election only at 6.45 pm on June 22 in spite of his efforts to get it.
