Shreyas who injured his shoulder in the second ODI against England has been ruled out of the forthcoming season as his recovery will be taking more time than initially anticipated.
This will be Pant’s maiden campaign as the captain of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Many expected senior player Ravichandran Ashwin to take over the captaincy reins in the absence of Shreyas but the franchise opted to encourage young talent and named Pant as the captain of the side for the forthcoming season.
Last year’s runner ups Delhi Capitals will be taking on the Chennai Super Kings in their first match of the tournament. This match will be taking place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 10th April.
Delhi had a great run in the tournament last year and will be looking to emulate a similar feat this time around as well.
