At least seven passengers have died and several others injured in a train accident happened early on February 3 morning in Vaishali district of Bihar.
The Seemanchal Express (No 12487) train derailed near Shahdei Buzurg railway halt near Mahnar in Hajipur of Vaishali district at 3:35 on February 3 morning.
It says that altogether 11 coaches of the train were derailed due to crack in the railway track. Many more bodies feared to be trapped inside the train coaches.
“Rescue and relief operations are on for derailment of 9 coaches of Jogbani-Anand Vihar Terminal Seemanchal express at Sahadai Buzurg, Bihar”, said the office of the railway minister Piyush Goyal in a statement.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has expressed grief over the accident and condolences to the family members of those died in the accident.
Railway Ministry has issued helpline numbers - Sonpur 06158221645, Hajipur 06224272230 and Barauni 06279232222 for relatives of those traveling in the train.
