Serial rape deaths rattle Telangana: Bodies of 3 girls dumped in a dry abandoned well
Hajipur village Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district in Telangana has literally shaken as the local police recovered the dead bodies of two girls dumped in a dry abandoned well on Tuesday. The girls were speculated to be raped and murdered by the same man, Srinivas Reddy who is in police custody now. The 27-year-old has allegedly raped and killed at least three girls and dumped the bodies of two of them in a dry abandoned well on land owned by him near the village. The police are in search of the skeletal remains of a third girl.
On Friday last, a complaint was registered that a 14-year-old victim from Hajipur had gone missing while returning home from her school in Keesara on April 25. The next day, the body of the girl was found in the well after police launched a search on a missing complaint. According to the postmortem report, the girl had been sexually assaulted before being killed. In this process, the police have also found the skeletal remains of an 18-year-old, who had gone missing since April. In the backdrop of the recoveries, family members of an 11-year old girl who has been missing since 2015 urged the police to take up further searches fearing she could have also met with a similar fate.
Amidst this, the angry villagers attacked and set ablaze Srinivas Reddy’s house on Tuesday. Collector Anita Ramachandran also visited the village and took stock of the situation and ordered to suspend the Sub-Inspector of Police for neglecting crime prevention duty.
