Former chief minister Siddaramaiah held an hour-long meeting with the Mandya alliance candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy on Friday night. Nikhil, who rushed to Siddu's house in Bengaluru after finishing his campaign, discussed the present poll scenario in the constituency. He requested Siddaramaiah's early intervention to resolve the pending issues. At the meeting, it was decided that Siddu will campaign across the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency on April 12.
In Mandya, Nikhil, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and the Congress-JDS alliance candidate, will be facing independent candidate, Sumalatha, wife of late actor and Congress minister M H Ambareesh. There has been a lot of chaos in the district as there are reportedly many activists of the Congress party who are still supporting Sumalatha, despite repeated instructions against this from the party's state leadership. The BJP has also decided to back Sumalatha in the upcoming elections.
