SP Velumani says ‘Grow trees to have more water, better rain
Municipal and Local body Minister S P Velumani again sought the citizens to grow more trees for the better rainfall and more water. Discussing on water crisis in the Assembly, the Minister said that over the world only 1% of water pure water is available and that must utilize properly.
DMK MLA A P Nandakumar tweeted, people are sharing photos of people waiting for water with pots. He asked. The government to take immediate action to solve the water ‘famine’. The MLA also elevated the issue of solar-powered greenhouse and said many beneficiaries are receiving money from usuries.
Nandakumar said that “The government gives only Rs 1.80 lakh in cash which is not enough even to purchase cement, steel for constructing a house in 300sqft. Due to this many beneficiaries are borrowing money at very high interest.”
Responding that the Minister said that the state is not facing water crisis but only shortage and that too due to nature. He too said DMK government gave only Rs 75,000 and now Rs 1.81 lakh is given. “We will involve workers in MGNREGA to plant tree saplings,” said Velumani.
The MLA need the government to made greenhouses by floating tenders, but the minister was not ready to face the tender route.
