Actress-turned-politician Sumalatha Ambareesh recently met state election commission officers and sought-after their protection. In her complaint to the commission, she alleged that she is being intimidated which her phone is being tapped. 'I have been put under police investigation by the government. I'm being threatened against visiting the villages of the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency to seek votes. So, the commission should intervene,' she said.
She additionally informed that in Mandya, the JDS is misusing the executive machinery to defeat her. "There is an urgent need to announce the hypersensitivity of the constituency and send in extra central forces," she urged.
Referring to the recent cable cutting incident across the constituency, she alleged that the state government is attempting to block her campaign by varied means. It can be recalled that in Mandya, Sumalatha, wife of the late former state and Union minister 'Rebel Star' M H Ambareesh has fastened horns with Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
