Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswami sought the public to elevate support to the plastic ban being imposed by the government from January 1.
He conducted a review meeting at the secretariat with the ministers and chiefs of the several departments on the act against the violations.
“The general public should make use of alternative products to plastic and help the state government in its efforts to preserve the environment,” the CM said.
The meeting debated the fine imposed on making and canceling their licenses for the violations. The departments were headed to support the public to utilize another possibility products and take action against violators.
The state has set the fine for the first-time crime of storage, supply, transport, sale, and distribution of use and throwaway plastics at Rs 25,000. although for the second time offense the fine will be increased Rs 50,000 while it will be Rs 1 lakh for the third time offense.
