Tamil Nadu govt to construct stadiums if 3 acres land available in the constituency
Sports development minister KA Sengottaiyan said that if the government can find vacant three acres of land and if there are people interested in sports, it will construct a stadium or playground in any assembly constituency. During that question hour, MLAs across all parties need the government to have a proper playground or stadium and indoor facilities in their constituencies. As more athletes, as well as sportsmen, form Tamil Nadu win accolades as well as national and international awards. MLAs wanted stadiums and playgrounds to be built in all assembly constituencies.
DMK Tiruchendur MLA Anita Radhakrishnan said that “There are several athletes from my constituency who are paying kabaddi, football, volleyball, cricket. I want the government to set up a proper playground at Udangudi.” The Minister said there is no space at Udangudi to have a stadium and immediately the MLA changed the area within his constituency and wanted the government to build a stadium with an indoor facility.
The Minister said “Each year we can only construct 5 to 6 stadiums. This year work has started to construct a stadium in Katpadi constituency at a total cost of Rs 15.65 crore. The work will be completed soon.”
