Tamilisai Soundararajan challenges Kanimozhi’s election
The 45-day deadline time comes to an end in few hours, state BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan registered an election case in the Madras High Court asking DMK MP Kanimozhi’s success from Tuticorin parliamentary constituency. Kanimozhi defeated Tamilisai by a difference of the 3.47 majority votes.
A Theni constituency voter has registered the same case criticizing the success of AIADMK’s P Ravindranath Kumar. Tamilisai requested to declare Kanimozhi’s election form Tuticorin as avert, alleging the latter had provided incomplete and defective information in her nomination that she was enrolled as a voter in Triplicane assembly constituency. The petition stated in form 26, but she has said that her name is enrolled in Tuticorin.
The petitioner stated that “The aforesaid declaration filed by Kanimozhi is materially defective in view of the fact that she ought to have given the National Registration Identity Card Number (NRIC), given by the Singapore government, which is equivalent to PAN applicable in India.”
Respectively, Kanimozhi must have disclosed the income gained by her husband and her son, she said. The purpose to submit information about income received by them, she has filed a wrong affidavit which effects the result of the election the petitioner said.
In his case, the Theni constituency voter asked to declare the election of AIADMK candidate and son of deputy chief minister O Pannerselvam, P Ravindranath Kumar, as null and void alleging he had provided money.
