TNSCB to increase lease to 99 years.

Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board(TNSCB) planning to increase the lease to 99 years for resettled residents, the complex to resettle evicted NTO Kuppam fishermen are expected to be completed in the next two months.

Two years ago, NTO Kuppam fishing hamlet was evicted and they have assured houses in the 10-storeyed Complex. The main concern of the fishermen is the short lease period, the lease period on the land is 30 years.

However, TNSCB officials said that they will be increasing the lease period to 99 years and it will be extended further in the future too. The complex is expected to complete in the next two months and will be ready for occupancy by July.

This is the first complex build using prefabricated technology and it will not have any problem for at least 50 years. Though residents are happy about the lease period, they are skeptical about the quality.
