Police have launched a probe, into the allegation of rape, against Dhananjoy Tripura (29), IPFT MLA. He has been charged with the allegations of raping a tribal girl, telling her with the promise of marriage.
The tribal girl booked the case at Mandwai police station, 20km east of Agartala, on Sunday. In her complaint, the girl informed that they were having an affair for the past couple of years. “He [Dhananjoy] gave promise of marriage and developed a physical relationship with me.
He raped me several times at a residence in Abhaynagar locality in Agartala”, she alleged adding that the MLA recently discarded her. Police arranged for medical examination of the girl and have her statement recorded before a magistrate on Monday.
