Parimala Shyam of JD(S) and Gowramma Somashekar from Congress was unanimously elected as President and vice president severally, of Mysuru Zilla panchayat. The JD(S) had virtually set to travel with the BJP as its coalition partner for Zilla panchayat President election, however, finally teamed up with the Congress.
As per the government's order, the ZP President post was reserved for Backward category (A) ladies, and vice president post for General category. JD (S) leaders set to travel with Parimala Shyam as its Presidential candidate that was conjointly backed by its coalition partner, whereas Gowramma Somashekar who had defeated district minister GT Devegowda’s wife Lalitha within the Zilla panchayat election was the Congress candidate for the Vice President's post that was backed by the JD(S).
No candidates filed nomination for the post of the President, except Parimala Shyam. However, Gowramma Somashekar would have had to face competition from BJP candidate AM Guruswamy if the latter had not withdrawn his nomination. both Parimala Shyam and Gowramma Somashekar were elective unanimously.
Parimala Shyam, the new President of Mysuru Zilla panchayat said “I wish to thank our senior leaders together with JD(S) chief HD Devegowda, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, district minister GT Devegowda and tourism Minister SR Mahesh for choosing me from the party for the Zilla Panchayat President post. My high priority is to produce smart infrastructure to government colleges in rural areas.
I also wish to work out that every one government welfare schemes reach individuals. Except for this proper portable, health and cleanliness are different important work to that I'll be given additional emphasis. I'll also attempt to get additional funds for Mysuru Zilla Panchayat".
Gowramma Somashekar assured to offer overall importance to drinking water, education, health, and drainage system.
