Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has addressed the controversy surrounding Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's song Besharam Rang. Many people criticized the song from their film Pathaan. The criticism was for supposedly offending their religious feelings. In response, the CM stated that a film director should bear in mind scenes that may cause controversy when creating a film.
Pathaan became embroiled in controversy following the release of the song Besharam Rang. Many people criticized it because of Deepika's attire, notably her saffron bikini. And because it portrayed Shah Rukh and Deepika romancing in Spain. This sparked widespread protests around the country, as well as a boycott campaign on social media.
CM Yogi talked about the film controversy in an interview. He said, “The film director should also consider that a film should not have scenes that could give rise to controversy." Any artist, literator, or anyone with accomplishments should be respected. Uttar Pradesh has also made a policy for films and many films are being made in the state,” he also added.
Several BJP politicians, including Ram Kadam and Narottam Mishra, protested the Pathaan release. Also, right-wing organizations issued warned against film screenings in cities. Later, PM Narendra Modi warned party workers from making 'unnecessary comments' on films.
Many morning shows of the film were also canceled in Indore theatres on release day. This was due to protests by local political organizations. Pathaan, on the other hand, was a huge box office triumph against all odds. Since its January 25 release, it has made 429.9 crores at the domestic box office. According to the makers, Yash Raj Films, the film has so far grossed $832.20 crore globally.
