UP law student who accuses BJP leader on rape testifies in Court
The 23-year-old law student, who accused BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand of raping her on several occasions, recorded her 164 CrPC statement in a magisterial court in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur on Monday. The girl was produced in court by the Special Investigating Team and was escorted by several policewomen as she arrived in court.
Earlier, the girl in her new statement said that Chinmayanand is a 'blackmailer'. She said that Chinmayanand had shown her a video of her taking bath and then used it to blackmail, rape and exploit her. Earlier, the student claimed Chinmayanand sexually exploited her for a year. She submitted 43 videos to SIT, earlier. However, the victim’s family said that most of the evidence they handed over to the SIT against Chinmayanand has been tampered with or destroyed.
The incident came to light when she went missing on 24 August, a day after she uploaded a video on the social media seeking help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In the video, she claimed that a very well connected saint is responsible for ‘destroying the lives of several girls’.
