Vellore Lok Sabha polls to be conducted on August 5
The election in Vellore Lok Sabha constituency, which was revoked following the takeover of the money form the offices of DMK workers, would be conducted on August 5, the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared. And the results will be declared on August 9.
A report form ECI stated that election gazette notification would be passed on July 11. The ending date for filing nomination papers is July 18. Nominations will be inspected on July 19, and the closing date for withdrawing the candidature is July 22.
Vellore collector A Shanmuga Sundaram said the model code of conduct will come into force with immediate effect. All government vehicles given to selected representatives would be quit immediately. Nodal officials would be assigned soon, he said.
Originally the election was scheduled for April 18 along with that in other constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Although the election was revoked in the wake of the seizer of the huge amount forms the DMK workers close to the party candidate Kathie Anand.
