Voting begins for 95 seats in the 2nd phase of Lok Sabha elections!
Voting has begun for the second phase of the 17th Lok Sabha elections today. Southern states Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are among the 11 states that are casting their ballots on Thursday. Puducherry is the only Union territory that is going to polls in the second phase of the seven-phase polls.
Thirty-eight seats in Tamil Nadu, 14 constituencies in Karnataka and the only Puducherry seat are voting today. Voter turnout stood at 7.6 per cent in Karnataka and 1.62 per cent in Puducherry at 9 am on Thursday, 18 April, the second phase of polling in the Lok Sabha elections. The voter turnout stood at 13.48 per cent in Tamil Nadu at 9 am.
Polling is being held for 95 seats instead of 97 in 11 states and one Union Territory after elections in Tamil Nadu's Vellore was cancelled and East Tripura election was postponed to April 23. The seven-phase elections are being held to elect 543 Lok Sabha members.
