While JDS dominates, DK Shivakumar’s arrest splits Congress
Senior Congress leaders and Siddaramaiah has miffed with former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in the case of DK Shivakumar’s arrest. While the arrest as an attack on the Vokkaliga community and “hijacking” their protests.
The political claims between JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda and Siddaramaiah over the collapse of Kumaraswamy’s coalition government.
Siddaramaiah reacted of Deve Gowda claims he said, “Have you heard of anyone on earth topping a government to become an opposition leader? It’s a silly allegation.”
Meanwhile, The Congress sources said Shivakumar is aspiring to be KPCC president or opposition leader in Assembly, Siddaramaiah as continuing as an opposition leader present he holds Congress Legislature Party leader.
Former Minister Rambling Reddy said, “It is unfortunate that we are talking about power politics and caste equations at a time when we need to be united to fight the BJP.” He also said “The problem with the Congress is that we have not learned from the BJP, which is known for its teamwork. In Congress, there is no teamwork.”
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao have condemned the DK Shivakumar arrest and also accusing the BJP has performing vindictive politics they claimed.
However, BS Shivanna, KPCC general secretary and close to Siddaramaiah said “It was a prearranged program and nothing much should be read into it. What is needed now is to back a beleaguered leader without indulging in caste politics.”
A national speaker for JD(S) Ramesh Babu said: “It is disheartening to note Congress leaders are being half-hearted.” “It Showa the party is not united, but we are unfazed. We will continue to fight against the BJP’s vindictive politics.”
