Why is Jagan mum over the EVM issues in the state?
Democratic India kickstarted the 2-month long election season on April 11th with polling in states like Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana e.t.c. A total of 18 states and two union territories will vote in the first phase of Lok Sabha election. On this note, glitches in the functionality of EVMs in various constituencies has delayed the polling process testing the patience of the voters.
Andhra Pradesh has witnessed 3-4 hours delay in polling in over 100 booths out of 175 constituencies due to the malfunction of the EVMs. Vijayawada, which is the state’s capital has registered complaints that when they pressed the button for TDP, the vote went to BJP. Jammu and Kashmir which had the polling on the same day registered the same problem that when they opted for Congress, the blinker against BJP is flickered.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu has met with the Election Commission’s CEO Gopal Krishna Dwivedi and has submitted a letter reporting the malfunctioning of EVMs. Even Jana Sena’s chief Pawan Kalyan took to the media to address the issue. But to everyone’s surprise, media and the political circles has observed that YS Jagan is completely silent about the EVM issue.
With allegations like BJP backing the Election Commission and Jagan remaining mum over the issue, speculations are all around that there is something fishy behind the faulty EVMs.
