BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday claimed that she will release “proof” of the DMK holding talks with her party at an appropriate time.
“Neither is (Prime Minister) Modi lying nor am I lying. The DMK and the Communists may have the habit of lying, but I don’t come from a family that lies. I am a very honest person. What I say may have some reasons,” she said responding to DMK’s charge that she was lying about the Dravidian party holding talks with the BJP for a possible post-poll tie-up.
Ms. Tamilisai told journalists in Chennai that she was saying certain things based on information and questions posed to her.
“We will give proof when we have to. The DMK is like a chameleon. There is no doubt about that,” she charged.
The BJP leader raised the issue of TRS chief Chandrasekhar Rao meeting Mr. Stalin. “Stalin took (Congress president) Rahul Gandhi’s name (for the PM post). Now he is meeting Mr. Rao,” she said.
The BJP was clear about its alliance in Tamil Nadu, she added. “We are very clear on our alliance. We are with AIADMK and have a very strong alliance,” she said.
Ms. Tamilisai questioned the rationale behind actor-politician Kamal Haasan’s remarks that Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, was free India’s first extremist who was a Hindu. She said Godse was found guilty and hanged. “How can you link it to religion,” she asked.
