Second Monday Box Office Results For Avatar The Way Of Water: James Cameron's Movie Moves Nearer To Rs 300 Crore Nett

The second week of box office receipts for James Cameron's Avatar: The Way Of Water in India is holding steady. After grossing over Rs. 190 crores in the first week, the movie had a stellar second week and became India's top movie for the second weekend in a row. According to current trends, Avatar: The Way Of Water will likely remain the top movie in India for another two weeks before being surpassed by south Indian blockbusters slated for Sankranthi/Pongal releases in the second and third weeks of January.

The second Monday numbers are in the same ballpark as the second Thursday and Friday following a spectacular second weekend of over Rs. 55 cr nett. On the film's eleventh day of ticket sales, it had made between Rs. 12 and Rs. 13 crores. Avatar: The Way of Water is benefiting from the lucrative post-Christmas box office season, along with Drishyam 2, which is up almost 50% from Friday. Avatar: The Way Of Water's remarkable box office performance puts it in a strong position to surpass Avengers: Endgame as the highest-grossing import release in India. Not only that, but it may become the first Hollywood movie to gross above Rs. 400 crores.

In India, Avatar: The Way Of Water is James Cameron's third consecutive blockbuster. With only KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR earning more money, it will end up becoming the third-highest-grossing Indian movie of the year. The movie's international box office has surpassed 900 million dollars. It will surpass a billion dollars by the conclusion of week 2. Although it looks unlikely for it to match Top Gun: Maverick in the USA, it will also become the year's top-grosser at the global box office by surpassing Top Gun: Maverick in the end.
