Thunivu enjoyed a successful weekend at the Indian box office, mainly due to its successful run in Tamil Nadu. The five-day extended weekend of the Ajith Kumar-starring film brought in Rs. 78.50 crores in India. The majority of the movie's collections came from Tamil Nadu, where it brought in an additional Rs. 13 crores on Sunday for a total of Rs. 62 crores over the period of five days.
The five days collections are just Rs. 8 crores lesser than Valimai's first five days, which had a single release and a significant lead of Rs. 7 crores on the first day, despite the significant clash. The collections will continue to increase over the course of the next two days, with Thunivu expected to easily pass Valimai's seven-day collections will be maintained at high levels for the upcoming two days, and Thunivu should easily surpass Valimai'. Thunivu will unquestionably set the record for Ajith Kumar's best first-week box office collection.
Though Thunivu might not end up with a higher gross than Varisu, given the reasonable costs involved, it is in a better financial position. Still, it's important to observe how it performs after the holiday season since that will ultimately determine how the movie does.
In addition to Tamil Nadu, the movie performed well in Karnataka. It earned Rs. 8.25 crores in five days effectively competing with Varisu. Kerala's box office performance is poor, but it's better than the previous Ajith starring movies' poor results. In other places, the movie lost viewers after the first day, which was a very poor day.
