Actor Akshay Kumar pledges Rs 25 crores to PM-CARES Fund

The Coronavirus Pandemic has sent shockwaves through the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the setting up of the PM-CARES Fund today. The actor Akshay Kumar has come forward to contribute RS 25 cores to the fund.

 
The PM-CARES fund was set up to accept donations to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. The PM-CARES fund stands for Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Fun. The fund was set up as a response to a sea of citizens coming forward to make donations. To answer their question of how and when can they contribute to fighting the crisis, the PM Modi has made a public announcement of the fund and the details are available on his social media and official website. The fund is primarily a disaster management fund. The PM has stated that all donations are welcome, even micro-donations. Citizens can contribute through a variety of payment channels – Debit/Credit cards, UPIs and Internet banking options.
 
In response to this announcement, actor Akshay Kumar has decided to do his part to help the nation fight this health crisis. The actor took to Twitter to support the PM Modi’s initiative and to encourage others to contribute. The actor tweeted,” This is that time when all that matters in the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi Ji's PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai to Jahaan hai. “ The actor had also advised people to be responsible in this time of crisis. He recently tweeted asking people “ not be selfish and venture out as it will put others’ lives at risk.” He advised people to stay home.”
