Director Major Ravi responded to the statement of the general secretary of AMMA. AMMA general secretary Idavela Babu has said that Amma is a club and not an organization. Major Ravi was speaking at the promotion event for the new film Santacruz.
"I have membership in clubs. All have membership: Navy Club, Golf Club, Cochin Club, etc. I pay yearly for the membership. And not the one who uses the club for enjoyment. I still don't understand why Babu said that AMMA is a club. I haven't been inside it yet. I went only once when I was called for the inauguration. I can say for sure if it's a club or not after I've been inside. Can it be called a club or is it an organization? But I can't comment on everything. If I were a member there, I would have answered authentically. Sometimes I also say what Ganesh said. But I am not commenting on it as I don't know it;" said, Major Ravi.
When asked whether he agreed with the club, he said, "Many poor people are given pension from there. We will never get a pension from any club. Babu himself should be asked on what basis he used that word. If I had known whether the word was wrong, I would have said openly that I do not agree with it. It is not correct to call such an organization a club. So many great artists are members of it. They are helping many people and helping society. A club is not a name to be given to a place. AMMA is an organization. Calling it a club is wrong, don't call it that," he added.
