AR Rahman fumes on the remixed Masakali 2.0; asks fans to listen to the original

The trend of remixes is not going down in Bollywood. Makers are rehashing old classic songs by adding new instrumentals to them. This trend is making the original song lose its flavor. Moreover, the young and the next generation will not be able to recognize the authenticity of the originals. Thus, many composers are against this idea of remixing songs. But the audio labels are not in a mood to listen. Yesterday, T-Series has released 'Masakali 2.0' which is a remix of iconic song Masakali from Delhi 6. Upon the release of this new track, the composer of the original song, AR Rahman requested people to enjoy the old version. He further added that over 200 musicians work for 365 days with an aim to produce a song that can last for generations. He added that there is no shortcut for success.

The original Masakali got penned by Prasoon Joshi and sang by Mohit Chauhan. The Masakali 2.0 got composed by Tanishk Bagchi, sang by Sachet Tandon and Tulsi Kumar. The new song featured Siddharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles.

AR Rahman's tweet read, "No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew. - Lots of love and prayers A.R. Rahman."

Delhi 6's director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra tweeted, "#Masakali #Delhi6 Created with love & passion an iconic song that has to be preserved. Beware of the re- mix it will damage your eardrums."

Further, lyricist Prasoon Joshi wrote, "All songs written for #Delhi6 including #Masakali close to heart, sad to see when the original creation of @arrahman @prasoonjoshi_ &singer @_MohitChauhan insensitively utilised. Up to the conscience of @Tseries. Hopefully, the fans will stand for originality. @RakeyshOmMehra"
