AR Rahman's 99 Songs to release in theatres on April 16

Composer AR Rahman's 99 Songs, which has been in the making for more than two years finally gets a release date. The Oscar award-winning composer took to social media to announced that the film will release in theatres on April 16 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. Apart from producing this film, AR Rahman has also doubled up as a writer in the film. Announcing the release date of the film, AR Rahman wrote, "Happy to share that #99Songs will release on April 16, 2021, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Directed by @vishweshk and featuring the talented actors @itsEhanBhat & #EdilsyVargas.”

99 Songs is directed by debutant Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy and also marks the debut of actors Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas. Vishwesh had previously worked as an ad filmmaker before Rahman approached him to direct 99 Songs. Vishwesh is also a part of the famous Mumbai-based band Scribe. 99 Songs premiere was held at the 24th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea in 2019. The musical romance film also stars Tenzin Dalha, Aditya Seal, Lisa Ray, Manisha Koirala, Thomson Andrews, Ranji Barot, Rahul Ram, Remo Fernandes, Ashwath Bhatt and Kurush Deboo in lead roles.
