Director GN Rangarajan dies at 90

Noted Tamil director GN Rangarajan breathed his last ar around 8.45 am on June 3 due to age-related illness. His final rites will take place sometime later today, June 3, in Chennai. Rangarajan's son GNR Kumaravelan, who is also a director in the Tamil film industry, announced the death of his father on Twitter with a photo of him. He wrote, "My Father, my mentor, my love ... passed away today morning around 8.45 am. Need all your prayers to keep my family in strength (sic)." Celebrities from the Tamil film fraternity took to social media to offer condolences to Rangarajan's family members.

 
GN Rangarajan initially worked as an assiantant editor to Dorai Singam. He worked as SP Muthuraman's associate director in many films such as Bhuvana Oru Kelvi Kuri, Aaril Irundhu Aruvadhu Varai, Priya and many more. Some of GN Rangarajan's famous films include Meendum Kokila, Maharasan, Kalyanaraman, Ellam Inbamayam, Kadal Meengal, Muthu Engal Sothu, Pallavi Meendum Pallavi and Aduthaathu Albert, among others.After Maharasan, he quit filmaking and ventured into small screen with a television serial called Raghuvamsam.
