The DYFI said that the demand of the Christian organizations to change the name of the film Eesho is an encroachment on the freedom of expression. The controversy surrounding the name of the film directed by Nadirsha is unfortunate.
"This is a blatant encroachment on the freedom of expression. Such controversies would only serve to create communal divisions in the society;" said A A Rahim.
A. A Rahim's words:
Art expressions need to be approached at their level. Such controversies would eliminate the possibility of free expression.
Such hate propaganda has been repeated in recent times. This is a disgrace to progressive Kerala. Such narrow-mindedness will hinder the development and progress of the state. It is not a good thing that the onslaught on freedom of expression is on the rise like never before in a time of further reform.
Such campaigns could lead to more political fuel for religious nationalists. Kerala must be vigilant against the despicable moves that are being made to cultivate communalism and hatred in society. The tolerant stance taken by some respected church leaders in the Eesho controversy is exemplary. We must not accept any move to divide Kerala.
Kerala should raise strong resistance against such controversies. The DYFI state secretariat said in a statement that caution should be exercised against moves to create communal divisions.
