Mani Ratnam opined that Hindi cinema should stop calling them Bollywood. Mani Ratnam said that this will also end the misunderstanding that Bollywood is Indian cinema.
Mani Ratnam was responding to the remark that Indian cinema is known in the West as Bollywood. Mani Ratnam said, "If Hindi cinema stops calling them Bollywood, then others will stop thinking that Bollywood is Indian cinema. I don't like being called Kollywood or Bollywood. We should all say Indian cinema," Mani Ratnam said. Directors like Vetrimaran, Basil Joseph, and Rishabh Shetty were also panel members in this discussion.
