India entered the second phase in the novel coronavirus vaccination. Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first person to take the Covaxin shot in the second phase of vaccination. Many leaders and celebrities followed suit and have been getting vaccinated against the novel coronavirus. The second phase of vaccination is for people above 45 years of age without any comorbidities. Recently, actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan received the vaccination shot at Sri Ramachandra Hospital in Chennai.

He shared a photo of himself getting vaccinated at the hospital and wrote, "I got vaccinated at Sri Ramachandra hospital. People who don't just care about themselves but care about others as well must definitely get themselves vaccinated. Vaccine for bodily disease immediately, vaccine for corruption disease next month, get ready (sic)." He can be seen wearing a grey waist coat and jeans for his hospital visit. Kamal Haasan has been vocal about raising awareness against the novel coronavirus and how to beat it. His party will be contesting in the upcoming Assembly Elections which will take place on April 6 in Tamil Nadu.
