Karthi Sivakumar took to his Twitter to speak up about his concerns over the proposal of the EIA 2020. Karthi put out a statement on behalf of the Uzhavan Foundation. In his address, he strongly criticized the proposed changes. Stating, "it's not development if it costs eco-diversity," Karthi expressed his concerns about the impact of the changes on the environment.
Karthi also addressed the issue of the language that the drafts are put forth in. He questions as to why they are only put forth in English and Hindi. He further asked how can the millions of people who speak and read other native languages understand the changes proposed.
Karthi questioned as to how the law or an act could be fair if the purpose and aim of the same clashes with the concerns of the common man.
Karthi put forth his concerns about the EIA 2020 and also questioned several aspects of the same in a detailed statement. Karthi wrote, “Setting up of heavy industries at the huge and irrecoverable cost of this ecological harmony cannot be construed as a measure of success and development. This endeavour will be seen as an exercise to systematically dismantle a promising future of our generations to come and this should not be heralded by a democratically elected government of our nation."
