Paruchuri Venkateshwara Rao and his brother Gopala Krishna have made their entry into films with the 1978 movie Chali Cheemalu. They wrote the dialogues for it. They got a major breakthrough with the 1982 film Naa Desam. Directed by K. Bapaiah, this film featured NTR and Jaya Sudha in the lead roles. During the 1980s, they shot to fame with films like Bejawada Bebbuli, Khaidi, Poratam, Sangharshana, Bobbili Brahmanna, Palnati Puli, Agni Parvatham, Adavi Donga, Kondaveeti Raja and Veta. During the 1990s, they have become star writers in the industry. Many of their films went on to score successes at the box office.
Paruchuri Brothers have also directed nine films in their career. Their first directorial was the 1984 film Kai Raja Kai. Their last directorial venture was the 1997 film Singhanna. Paruchuri Venkateshwara Rao has also acted in many films. He acted in movies like Santosham, Sreeram, Sambaram, Super, Dongodu, Race Gurram and Khaidi No:150.
