Actor Rahul Roy is returning to films after recovering from a brain stroke in 2020. He has undergone various forms of treatment and therapy. And with the support of family, friends, and colleagues, he returned to the film set for Nitin Kumar Gupta's Walk. This film was shot across Rajasthan and Maharashtra and focuses on the plight of migrant workers during the COVID-19 lockdown. Rahul plays Roshan, who is forced to carry his dead friend's son over 1,000 miles during the lockdown.
Rahul's breakout role was in the 1990 Mahesh Bhatt musical Aashiqui, co-starring Anu Aggarwal. He also appeared in Junoon, Sapne Sajan Ke, Gumraah, Naseeb, and Elaan. During the shooting of LAC — Live the Battle in Kargil in 2020, he suffered a brain stroke. He underwent angiography of the brain and heart at Wockhardt Hospitals. Then he was admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital on November 27, 2020.
Rahul spoke with Mid-Day, stating that it was a challenge to work on Walk after his health setback. However, with the unwavering support of the team, including the director, he was able to overcome the challenges. Rahul's recovery journey included medical treatment, speech therapy, and support from loved ones. He prioritized his physical and mental well-being. This was followed by a disciplined routine of exercise, diet, and meditation.
At the Jammu Film Festival on April 9, 2023, Rahul won the Best Feature Film Award for Walk, and his performance was well-received. He was last seen in the film Cabaret and has finished shooting for Kanu Behl's Agra, which explores sexual dynamics within a small-town family. Rahul has also mentioned working on a sequel to one of his "big films."
