Rajinikanth's 'Darbar' movie in a legal soup

South Superstar Rajinikanth whose recent outing 'Petta' became a big hit is all set to come up with another such mass masala action drama titled 'Darbar' under the direction of AR Murugadoss.

As per the latest reports, the makers are in big trouble. A Malaysian film distribution company has requested the Madras High Court to halt the release of ‘Darbar’ which is scheduled for a grand release on 9th January 2020. According to the buzz, the distribution company sought Rs 23 crores pending dues from the production house Lyca Productions Pvt Ltd. According to the petition filed by M Baskar on behalf of Aloysius Pillai, Director, DMY Creation of Malaysia, the Lyca team has a pending due of Rs 23 Cr for the previously released ‘2.0’ and ‘Vantha Rajavaathaan Varuven' movies in Malaysia. It seems like Lyca Productions has been negotiating with some others ignoring the Malaysian distribution company. So, they are demanding that Lyca should pay the pending dues of at least Rs. 12 Cr before the release of the movie 'Darbar'.
Nayanthara is playing the leading lady in this movie. Nivetha Thomas will appear Rajinikanth's daughter in the film which also features Suniel Shetty, Yogi Babu, Thambi Ramaiya, etc in key roles.
