The film's pre-release business was the best aht Bollywood saw in recent years. The film has now become the biggest opener for Bollywood, with Pathaan collecting Rs. 55 Crores on its opening day. Pathaan managed to create this record despite being released on a non-holiday. Pathaan overtook KGF 2 to become the biggest opener. KGF 2's Hindi version as the previous biggest opener, with Rs. 53.95 Crores.
After KGF 2, it is War with Rs. 51.60 Crores, followed by Thugs of Hindustan, with Rs. 50.75 Crores. Pathaan released at a point where no Bollywood films have been working in a while. The film has been praised for its visuals and action sequences, which are par with Hollywood films. Deepika Padukone is the leading lady of this film, which is directed by Siddharth Anand. This is the second consecutive hit for Siddharth Anand, who previously scored a major success with War.
