Haseen Dilruba is a movie directed by Vinil and starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. The film stars Vikrant Masi and Harshavardhan Rana in the lead roles. The film, which was released on Netflix on July 2, received mixed reviews.
The criticism extended to a personal level. However, the actress herself has come out with a long response to the criticism. In an interview with the Times of India, Taapsee made her position clear.
Fans have taken to Taapsee’s answer to the question of whether such criticism should be taken personally.
“It is written in a very personal way. Film critics need to have a clear understanding of the film industry. During my early days in cinema, my performance in the films I did was rated very badly by many critics. I have faced criticism that forced me to leave this profession itself. I have not claimed that I am the best actress in this field.
Pointing to any film, I have never said it would be better if I did the role. If you want you can criticize my acting style. I came here to understand and correct bad performances. But if someone says that Taapsee does nothing but change costumes in each film, it cannot be heard. That critique is completely personal.
That’s why I responded. Everyone has seen me take a strong stand on social issues. But it's time for me to stand up for myself. Who else but I can come forward for me;” said Taapsee.
The movie Loop Lapeta is the upcoming film of Taapsee. Loop Lapeta is a Hindi remake of the 1998 German film Run Lola Run.
