Shobana Kamineni, actor Ram Charan's mother-in-law, recently danced the hook step of the song Naatu Naatu, which won the Golden Globe award. Upasana Konidela, the wife of Ram Charan, posted a video of her mother taken on the streets of Davos, Switzerland. Shobana is the executive vice-chairperson of Apollo Hospitals. She was present at the World Economic Forum's annual gathering.
In the video, Shobana can be seen smiling and tapping her foot to the song. Along with an all-black outfit, she was also sporting a printed scarf around her neck. During the spontaneous dance, she came close to singing the song's catchy chorus.
Sharing the video, Upasana wrote on Twitter,
The outpouring of support for RRR, according to Ram Charan's mother-in-law, has been “It’s been just amazing. The outpouring. We thought the movie was fantastic. But the fact that it’s receiving international acclaim, all of a sudden, you’re giving so many Indians hope. I mean if you can win this, and a Telugu song can do it, any Indian can do anything.”
RRR, the film by SS Rajamouli, keeps making history abroad. Naatu Naatu, a song starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, most recently took home the Best Original Song trophy at the 80th Golden Globe Awards. Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava are the singers. And MM Keeravaani composed the song. Prem Rakshith is the choreographer of the now-famous dance.
In addition to the Golden Globes, RRR won two prizes at the 28th annual Critics' Choice Awards. It was for the best song and the best foreign film. It did not, however, make the 2023 BAFTA Film Awards' final shortlist. It was listed on the longlist for the category of Best Foreign Language Film.
Now that RRR has made the Music category shortlist, all eyes are on its chances at winning the Academy Awards (Original Song). With this, many are hopeful it will also receive a nod for Best Picture. On January 24, the complete list of nominees is made public.
