Suriya is basking in the success of his previous film Soorarai Pottru. DIrected by Sudha Kongara Prasad, the film release directly in Amazon Prime Video on November 12 and received rave reviews from the audience and critics alike. After the success of Sooorarai Pottru, Suriya shot for Netflix's anthology Navarasa in which he collaborated with Gautham Menon for a story. Recently, we ha reported that he has signed his 40th film with director Pandiraj, who is known for churning out family entertainers. This untitled rural entertainer is Suriya's 40th film in his career.

The untitled film will be produced by Sun Pictures. On February 15, the film went on floors with a customary pooja. The auspicious event began without Suriya as he is recovering from the novel coroanvirus. Sathyaraj, director PandirajPriyanka Arul Mohan, Saranya Ponvannan and several other actors, cast and rew atteded the pooja. It is said that the film's shooting will begin sometime in March. It is said that the film will be similar to the story of Kadaikutty Singam. Di Imman has been roped in to score the music.
