On the occasion of Kollywood star Surya’s 45th birthday, other than showering him with their birthday wishes, fans are demanding his upcoming film Soorarai Pottru release soon. The actor essays the role of Nedumaaran, the character based on Captain Gopinath Founder of the first low-cost airline Air Deccan. 'Soorarai Pottru' - directed by Sudha Kongara, is delayed for release due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The makers of the film which include the actor Suriya thought it was best to postpone the release until next year owing to the pandemic situation.
As we already know that Suriya initiated the movement in Tamil Cinema for direct OTT through the recent Jyothika starrer- Ponmagal Vandaal. Several theatre owners opposed his decision and boycotted all Suriya's movies like Soorarai Pottru as well as movies from Dream Warrior Pictures. The call by the makers of the film to release it on the big screen and not on OTT could out of the fear of retribution by the Tamil Nadu theatre owners association.
Whatever the reason be, the news did come as a bummer to the actor’s fans who were hoping to relive the magic of his performance. Yet, all is not sad for the actor’s admirers on his birthday. As an ultimate treat to them, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu released the first look of Suriya’s next film 'Vaadivasal' directed by Vetrimaaran. The rural look of the actor attributes to Jallikattu on which the film is based upon.
