The news of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide shocked the country. Mumbai Police subsequently launched a probe into the death of the actor. The police have questioned several prominent Bollywood personalities. Filmmaker Aditya Chopra gave his statement to the Mumbai Police on Saturday. Earlier, the casting director for Yash Raj Films, Shanoo Sharma had also recorded her statement with the Mumbai Police.

The ANI report about Aditya Chopra's questioning quoted the Mumbai Police. It read, "The statement of Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films recorded in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.” According to other reports, the filmmaker was allegedly questioned for over 4 hours. The filmmaker has been in the news concerning Sushant's death.
Aditya Chopra is one of many Bollywood personalities that has received backlash for derailing Sushant's career. The demise of Sushant has led to several theories citing professional rivalry, nepotism, cliques as causes for his death. The Mumbai Police's probe investigates if other causes apart from clinical depression could have lead to Sushant's suicide. The professional rivalry is one of the causes that they are looking at.
Previously, Mumbai Police had asked Yash Raj Films to send in copies of their contract with Susanth. Susanth had worked with the production house on two projects - Shuddh Desi Romance and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. YRF backed out of Susanth's third project Paani helmed by Shekhar Kapur. The project was then shelved.
On Friday, Sushant’s psychiatrist also spoke to the police and recorded his statement.
Earlier this week, Susanth's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty took to her social media to ask Home Minister Amith Shah to initiate a CBI probe.
The Mumbai Police have recorded statements of several personalities. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Dil Bechara director Mukesh Chhabra, Sanjana Sanghi, Rhea Chakraborty have recorded their statements.
