The desi superhero Shaktimaan will be made available on the big screen, Sony Pictures India said on February 10, 2022. The banner revealed the movie in a unique trailer and stated that it will be a first-of-its-kind domestic superhero trilogy. Since then, there have been numerous rumours about the actor who will portray Shaktimaan to modern audiences.
There has already been enough discussion of the film's potential directors. And now, we can exclusively reveal that the Shaktimaan crew is in talks with Basil Joseph of Minnal Murali fame to join as the film's director.
Basil is a huge admirer of Shaktimaan and is well-versed in the world of Indian superhero movies. The Shaktimaan crew has already met with the director several times, and he is eager to join the project. In order to determine whether Basil and the team are on the same page in terms of storytelling and visuals, the producers asked Basil to write his own version of the script, according to a source familiar with the situation. The source went on to say that the paperwork and other details will be worked out after the first proposal is finalized and meets the team's expectations for quality.
“Shaktimaan is a franchise that has the potential to change the game for Hindi Cinema and hence, the team is being very cautious with their choice of director. Mukesh Khanna has made the character a household name and the idea is to reintroduce the superhero to today’s audience. They have been talking to several top directors and as of now, Basil Joseph is the front runner to be at the helm of affairs, as all the meetings have met with a positive response,” added the source.
Ranveer Singh is at the top of the producers' list to play this legendary figure, but as of right now, no actor has been signed on for the lead part. "He won't play the superhero until he has read the script and has a sense of the way the producers and directors are taking the series. He has a once-in-a-lifetime chance to portray a superhero on screen, so he is being selective about what he does, the person said.
