The Coronavirus pandemic brought with it a shocking 21-day lockdown throughout India. Prime minister Narendra Modi urged people to stay at home so as to prevent any further spread of the novel COVID-19 virus. However, despite government efforts, many people are left to struggle for basic necessities. Veteran actress and cancer survivor Nafisa Ali is one such person. The actress is stuck in Goa without vegetables and fruits and even medicine amid the lockdown.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Ali revealed more about her current situation. She said, "The grocery shops are shut for the last six days. I’m a cancer survivor; I need to eat proper food. I’ ve been eating just dry ration for the past many days — there are no vegetables, no fruits. We’ re so cut off. I’m in Morjim and people here are having a terrible time. It’s only in Panjim that the situation is fine. My heart goes out to everyone.”
Nafisa Ali said that she originally planned to stay in Goa only for 10 days. However, the current situation has forced her family and herself to stay beyond the expected schedule.
Later in the interview, the actress also revealed that her niece had previously tested positive for the virus. However, she has now recovered. "She came back from Switzerland and got herself checked and it was positive. She was in the hospital and has now recovered completely. The recovery rate is very good but people have to get the treatment, and for that, they need to be tested. It’s very important and that’ show we can beat this,” she added.
