Recently, a leading daily reported that actor Vikram is retiring from acting. The report stated that the actor is stepping down from acting to concentrate on his son Dhruv Vikram's acting career. Vikram's publicist released a statement denouncing the rumour.
“This is to inform you that a news report published by a leading mouse on actor Vikram is absolutely false and completely baseless. Shocked to see this and wondering how people can publish such false without bothering to check with an official source,” read the statement.
The statement further stated that Vikram is currently invested in his film titled Cobra. He is also working on Mani Rantham's film Ponniyin Selvan. Additionally, the statement also revealed that the actor has signed on to appear in another project produced by Seven Screen Studios.
The rumour might have started as the actor has not appeared in a film since Kadaram Kondan last year. Vikram's son debuted with the film Aditya Varma. Adithya Varma was the Tamil remake of the hit film Arjun Reddy. However, the Tamil version failed to achieve the success the Telugu and Hindi versions achieved. Thus, the rumour was that Vikram will take a break from acting to focus on his son's career. However, the statement proves it wrong.
The publicist's statement also said, "Request all news channels and media friends to please check and clarify with official sources before publishing any news."
Meanwhile, the actor upcoming film Cobra marks the reunion of the actor and A R Rahman. The duo last collaborated on the films Raavanan and I.
