Naarappa is the official Telugu remake of Tamil Super hit flick Asuran, which was directed by Vetri Maaran. Venkatesh Daggubati will play the lead role in the film. Directed by Srikanth Addala, The film is set in Ananthapuram backdrop. The film is loosely based on the Karamchedu massacre, which took place in 1985. During the incident, dalits and Kammas landlords were involved in a tussle, which resulted in the death of 6 dalits. Suresh Production, along with Asuran's producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, are jointly bankrolling this project.
