Gully Boy is a musical drama film about Murad aka Gully Boy (played by Ranveer Singh), 22 years old Young man from world’s largest Slums -Dharavi of Mumbai who has an exceptional talent in writing poetry and a load of interest in Hip Hop. The Life of Murad changes when he decides to do hip hop in the local language, The Film is loosely based upon lives of Naezy and Divine, who are renowned hip hop stars of India. The Film is a shout out to Underground Rappers of India, It starts with Ranveer Singh playing as Murad’s Struggles in Dharavi Ghetto and Later Finding his Passion for Hip Hop, Performing Rap in Local Language and Rising to become the star of New Wave Hip Hop in India is the first great Hindi film of 2019.

Especially, The Lead – Ranveer Singh has given the best performance of his career by portraying the role of Down to Earth and Talented Young Hip hop artist to Becoming the beacon for Indian Hip hop Culture was a difficult role for any actor to pull it off. Production Design of The film is too accurate to Detail of Localities of Mumbai, Cinematography by Jay Oza shows us the grunge and rawness of Mumbai Ghettos. The Heart of the Film i.e Music is provided by various underground artists of Indian Hip Hop culture and the tunes make you groove over them. Editing is very rhythmic like Hip Hop and Writing of the film is very poetic and Director Zoya Akhtar makes the Narrative of the film in a similar to the RAP which is Rhythm and Poetry style.
Gully Boy starts off directly into the life of Murad’s obsession with Hip Hop and his limitations keeping his desire to be just a dream When he realizes that Hip Hop itself is the only way of his life.
Murad becomes Gully boy and Everything falls into his path. The Film tells us that Great artists come from the most oppressed places in difficult times.
The narrative itself a poetic with emotions depicting a slow-burning enthusiast into a full-fledged artist.
Gully boy is the first Hindi hip hop film and promises to become a classic in the course of time.
