Prabhudeva and Tamannaah deliver a mediocre horror comedy.
Krishna (Prabhudeva) and his wife (Devi) live in Mauritius and in the proceedings, Krishna gets possessed by not one, but two spirits. Devi has a tough time understanding what is happening with her husband.
She is taking the help of her friend Kovai Sarala to deal with this. Both of them try various methods to save Krishna from the two spirits and how they lead a happy life is the crux of the story.
It’s Prabhudeva‘s show all the way in Devi 2 as he gets possessed by 2 ghosts. He had the scope to act as three different people in the film and he has done a commendable job.
Tamannaah as the innocent Devi is charming. She also brings in the glamour quotient in the songs with her clothes and dance moves.
Nandita Swetha is a new addition to Devi franchise and she has delivered a neat performance in the film. Dimple, who plays another important role has also performed well.
RJ Balaji and Sonu Sood appear in a cameo role and both of them reminds us of the prequel which did a great job in entertaining the audience.
Director Vijay game a memorable film Devi and with the sequel he has tried to make an engaging horror comedy with almost the same cast.
The songs composed by Sam CS, especially the Ready Ready song, is great to hear in theatres. Tamannaah’s explosive moves in the song is an additional advantage.
The production value of Devi 2 is too good and it is visible in each and every crime. Cinematographer Ayananka Bose impresses everyone with his skills and makes Devi 2 a memorable film.
The first half of the film is too slow to bear and there are many sequences that remind us of similar scenes from other horror-comedy films.
Some of the jokes by Kovai Sarala doesn’t evoke laughter. With her shrieking voice, she annoys everyone and it has become unbearable to watch her on screen.
The screenplay of the film by Vijay and Sathya needs more work. It is a predictable and cliched film that is no different from several other horror comedy films that we have seen in the past.
Devi 2 starring Prabhudeva and Tamannaah is engaging only in parts. If you are a lover of horror comedies, then this film is a perfect watch for this summer.
