The police have arrested two officials of a private school in Andhra Pradesh over the death of a six-year-old boy.
The child died after falling into a vessel of hot sambar at the school. A case had earlier registered against the school management for causing death by rash or negligent act. Meanwhile, the Education Department said that the school had a staggering 1,300, despite having no permission for the same.
The police arrested Vijayakumar Reddy and Naga Malleshwar Reddy, who were the Managing Director and Correspondent of the Vijayanikethan English Medium High School, where the boy was studying, in Panyam of Kurnool district.
A case had earlier registered against the school management, under section 304 of the IPC for causing death by rash or negligent act. After an initial inquiry, the police had said that there seemed to be visible negligence in monitoring the dining hall, which led to the incident.
The deceased, Purushotham hailed from Tippayipalli of Orvakal Mandal. His death had sparked anger in the area, as Purushotham's parents Shyamsunder Reddy, Kalpana and relatives along with student organizations, staged a protest at the school demanding justice.
