This is the major decision taken by the Jagan’s Government since it came to the ruling. This will produce too much criticism in the public sector along with some appraisals as well. Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's government in a significant move has banned private practices of government doctors in the state.
However, the emoluments of the government doctors will be hiked to compensate for the loss they might encounter by not lending their expert services outside the gamut of government hospitals.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday directed that private practice by government doctors be banned and they be financially compensated in lieu of the loss incurred.
The decision was based on the recommendations of an expert committee on healthcare headed by Dr Sujatha Rao. The committee made over 100 recommendations in its report to CM Reddy.
In the new Arogyasree-free medical service scheme to be relaunched on New Year, will cover 1200 -2000 diseases and health problems. CM also wants to increase coverage of the present allowance of Rs 5000 being given to the poorest of the poor while they undergo treatment.
